It tore right along the strap that is embedded in the sole. The sole of this pair, less than 3 years old (I have several other sandals so wore them only a few times a week for 6 months a year) completely ripped in 1/2 one day when I caught the toe on the curb as I was stepping down. The Cloud were comfortable, and I enjoyed the more cushy sole, but they do not wear nearly as well as the classic, which I have typically worn for 6 or 7 years each. All but this pair, Z/Cloud, had been the Chaco classic model. I have had 7 pair of Chaco sandals over 12 years.
I hope Chacos keeps the style and comfort for a long time, and only offers different strap colors and patterns over the years. I rarely take the time to write reviews, but I love these sandals so much. I ordered the black/white pair which will go with a lot of my clothes, and actually look a bit "dressy" - for my style anyway -) I am back on the Zappos website to see what other colors the zCloud come in.

They are at least 10 years old and I used these for I wore kayaking and sometimes hiking and loved those, but not more than my Birkenstocks. I have an old pair of Chacos-same strap style but without the cloud layer. I love the adjustable straps, the way the footbed fits my arch, the firm but flexible sole that conforms to my foot when walking. I practically live in Birkenstocks (with the extra cushion layer) year round and after yesterday, I felt like I could replace the Birkenstocks with these Chacos except in winter when I need to wear socks in our northern climate. I'm recovering from Achilles tendon issues so I'm pretty careful what I wear (always wear shoes or sandals with good support, anyway.) I wore these all day the first day they arrived, and the "cloud" layer feel extraordinarily wonderful. I usually wear a 10.5 (or larger when I need to put an orthotic in my shoe).
